It's for you to use as much as possible on your OpenBSD machine, on the USB 3 port mostly.

AXEN is a good chip, and together with the RTL8153 it's the only gigabit USB NIC supported on OpenBSD right now, so I would like to donate some to encourage testing and creating a better idea in the community of how/where it works / fix bugs / tweak it.

USB may be somewhat weaker tech than PCIe, however, there are many situations when you need to use an USB NIC - for instance when all your PCIe ports are occupied with other things - so it's important that it works well. Also the AXEN is quite ubiquitous, they make up maybe almost half of the random USB3 gigabit USB NIC from random retail store market.
