Hi, I get a kernel panic on a fresh 3.8 machine. As far as I can tell all the hardware is functional. The install-process went without any problem whatsover. The only commands issued after the install (upon first boot) are these :
cd /usr/src ftp ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/3.8/src.tar.gz tar zxvf src.tar.gz cd /usr/src cvs -d [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs -q up -rOPENBSD_3_8 -Pd cd /usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/conf/ /usr/sbin/config GENERIC cd /usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC/ make clean && make depend && make cd /usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC/ cp /bsd /bsd-old cp bsd /bsd reboot cd /usr/src rm -r /usr/obj/* make obj make build And this is were it ends. I entered these commands from a remote session and this is the last output (I copied the first lines: after make build and then the last lines) : # make build cd /usr/src/share/mk && exec make install install -c -o root -g bin -m 444 bsd.README bsd.doc.mk bsd.dep.mk bsd.lib.mk bsd.man.mk bsd.nls.mk bsd.obj.mk bsd.own.mk bsd.port.mk bsd.port.subdir.mk bsd.prog.mk bsd.regress.mk bsd.subdir.mk bsd.sys.mk sys.mk bsd.lkm.mk /usr/share/mk cd /usr/src/include && make prereq && exec make includes ... checking dynamic linker characteristics... openbsd3.8 ld.so checking command to parse nm output... ok checking if libtool supports shared libraries... yes checking whether to build shared libraries... no checking whether to build static libraries... yes panic ------ panic kernel: protection fault trap, code=0 Stopped at uvm_map_lookup_entry+0x60: cmpq 0x40(%rax),%rsi trace ------ uvm_map_lookup_entry() at uvm_map_lookup_entry+0x60 uvm_fault_unwire_locked() at uvm_fault_unwire_locked+0x221 uvm_fault() at uvm_fault+0x63 trap() at trap+0x2e2 --- trap (number 6) --- end trace frame: 0x0, count: -4 0x40065e: ps --- Not the full ps output because it's rather long to copy it from the screen.
