I know that the majority of people on this list are quite experienced
with hardware as well:

Maybe it is a hardware issue, likely not OpenBSD-related...

Since the night before last my system writes "q"s where ever possible...
Startup is not possible because at the "boot: " prompt very fast "q"s
are printed that would be taken as input if <Enter> is hit. (BIOS, not UEFI)

My system is ~amd64-current. I can't copy a dmesg as I cannot start the
system. A few days ago I asked about help as thunderbird was disfunct
due to W^X issues - the dmesg I posted then is the last I can point your
interest to. This was solved and the night after I updated t'bird via
ports the system went broke. :-( The input buffer apparently was filled
with "q"s and then started beeping waking up the entire family.

If I use a Linux-Live-CD on the troublesome machine the very same
behaviour happens if I open a xterm or click into the address bar in the
browser.

My system is fully encrypted with a key disk. Yes, I can use the SSD in
an other laptop, but X does not not start. The console there is a decent
workaround to transfer the relevant files to an external disk.

Unless s.o. has an idea about how to solve this issue I will have to
send this laptop to the manufacturer as I still have guarantee. It is
just that since today I urgently need particularly this machine. Very
frustrated... (I use a Linux box instead with an awfully bad screen).

Any hint is welcome.

TIA.

Best,
STEFAN
