Been running "manually stacked" RAID10 with 6 drives, on a low-traffic production system, for half a year. System boots off the first RAID1 array. The second RAID1 provides altroot. Script in rc.local assembles the RAID0 volume with the data pool. However, I didn't try an upgrade yet. ;)
