Or, he must use a different computer to access the documentation.

Or, he must talk to a friend.

Or, if he has no friends and cannot find a suitable relic, he must
prepare by somehow putting the documentation on paper. This can be
achieved using a printer, or - if such things are outside the budget
of our friendless hero - a pen.

Or, possibly, he should consider taking up some other, less demanding
profession? Perhaps medicine?
