Have you done actual comparisons?  With SSDs, I don't expect a
significant difference.  (There is none for doing a "make build"
of the base system.)

If you're really interested I could probably produce some benchmarks from
one of our build machines, but I did notice a modest increase in performance
doing everything in RAM.
