Hello!
As first: Happy coming New Year!
Does anybody know how I can use RAID Mirror on PDC20378 card?
You can't, none of the Promise RAID controllers are actually h/w.
my configuration:
pci3 at ppb2 bus 3
pciide0 at pci3 dev 14 function 0 "Promise PDC20378" rev 0x02: DMA
wd0 at pciide0 channel 0 drive 0: <ST3120026AS>
wd0: 16-sector PIO, LBA48, 114473MB, 234441648 sectors
wd0(pciide0:0:0): using BIOS timings, Ultra-DMA mode 6
wd1 at pciide0 channel 1 drive 0: <ST3120026AS>
wd1: 16-sector PIO, LBA48, 114473MB, 234441648 sectors
wd1(pciide0:1:0): using BIOS timings, Ultra-DMA mode 6
Best solution is RAIDFrame - we use it all the time! I don't believe you
can mirror an existing drive, unfortunately, .. but with s/w raid, you only
need mirror the partitions you wish to (e.g. /home).
Just be sure to unmount before you down the machine manually, .. as the
startup & parity rebuild takes a LONG time.
