That's likely to be a problem. Please, adjust number-of-open-files limits in /etc/login.conf and /etc/sysctl.conf. "pkg_info kde-runtime" will give you some clues. I log in and manually start kde with "startkde4" Some times when I logout that way it will hang and ctrl-alt-backspace is needed to return to the command line.
