I didn't suggest that ;)

This would only be needed to spot the main link coming back when you're
running on the backup link, and what you would want to do is add a more-
specific static route to a certain address that you can trust to respond
reliably (ISP1's nameserver perhaps).

I look after a site with very flaky connectivity, for them I have a bunch
of pppoe interfaces with default routes pointing at them with various
priorities. When pppoe(4) goes down the route is invalidated, things
seamlessly move to the next-lower priority..
