To be clear, this can *only* affect programs which use SysV shared memory. Chromium uses it for some users but from what I understand they do random trials with different methods so some people may be using it and others not. Not sure about Firefox, but the process I have running at the moment isn't using any, you can use ipcs(1) to look.
