I added a temporary IDE disk to the system and did a simple install of 3.8-Release on it while the MegaRAID i4 card was unplugged. Using the new kernel above did not solve i4 the problem (dmesg over serial below). Would moving the i4 card and drives to an entirely different machine be a worthwhile test?
