The heavy-handed approach... the firewall boots from either CD ROM https://cocoavillagepublishing.com/development/tools/openbsd/tips/cdrom or USB stick http://www.volkerroth.com/tecn-obsd-diskless.html and send log data to a remote machine that is on a UPS.
