Hello misc,
I was wondering about the following bit:

Apparently the card is detected, but bringing the interface down and
back up with ifconfig hangs the system *hard* without an error message
(no keyboard numlock/shiftlock response, no ping, unable to ssh to the
machine, etc).
Earlier postings seem to point out that a part of the atheros card
(rf2112 5.6) would not be supported out of the box.
Is this correct? If so, are there any simple steps I could take to
change this, besides buying new hardware? Earlier postings did not give
any conclusive info on this.
I have sadly no C programming skills yet.
