I use a lot of Sun SPARC stuff working for Oracle so it is a serious contender. I certainly wouldn't want to go slower than an Ultra 80 because they're already showing their age. My only concern is the noise; dear god the noise!!
The HP boxes are much faster than comparable Sun, but I think you're right about support. Are the PowerBook G4 (shame about no G5) well supported?
