That's true. Such window managers are user-controllable, unlike what you typically find in Linux. Just a hunch: the excessive number of applications listed is meant to show possibilities and/or prompt the user to configure fluxbox. You can edit the appropriate file /usr/local/share/fluxbox/menu to your own needs. The syntax is clean and simple.
