To install firmware make sure the rsu device is plugged in and you are connected to the internet via another network interface. Then run 'fw_update' as root. I can confirm that rsu works very well. I've got one which uses an external antenna (screw-on via SMA connector). Coverage is better than with any supported internal wifi device I've used. And the driver is relatively stable, at least better than urtwn in my experience. It doesn't support hostap mode though, and suspend/resume isn't as smooth as with internal wifi devices since usb devices are detached and reattached during suspend/resume (i.e. wifi settings aren't kept across suspend/resume).
