I must admit that by my negligence I fully deserved this and the

I will now start reading the basic documentation, as I should have
done earlier.

Do read the entire web site. The FAQ is great, but so are all the
other things there.
OpenBSD's FFS/FFS2 filesystems are rock solid. OpenBSD has
proven itself more reliable than the power grid. Want even
more protection? Get a UPS which can be monitored so you
can have clean shutdowns. Worried about your disks? Use
softraid to mirror the disks, and make backups. Those two
extra concepts will give you about as good a set of protections
as exist today.
