I ran into the same problem (php5 as a dependency but not supported by Horde...). What I did is simply installed horde, imp... for the official tarballs. Anyway, I still have problem under 3.8 and current with Horde, some https pids get killed while accessing some pages. Since I did not have the time to debug this for now, I'm stuck with horde2.
