It seems to be a hardware fault. To trap memory issues, you could try
memtest86+ [1].

Or ports/sysutils/memtest86+, which is the same and as a package it is
easier to deal with - it can be loaded by boot(8) directly from /stand on
your root filesystem. No CDs, floppies etc. are needed.
As a sidenote, memtest (www.memtest.org) an memtest86+ (www.memtest86.com)
are not exactly the same.
