+1 We set up CARP on unnumbered interfaces all the time. Works fine. This is useful if, for example, a pair of routers running CARP sits on a /30 network, where there's not enough address space to define virtual and physical addresses. This also works with VLANs; in that case, leave the physical and VLAN addresses unnumbered if necessary. dn
