What about _not_ starting xdm AND slim ? You're the one to decide which login manager you want, through xdm_flags='' in rc.conf.local or the slim snippet from pkg_info -M which goes into rc.local. Installing xfce4 has nothing to do with starting xdm/slim. Landry
