It seems like the gatos project has been merged into what will be called X.org X11R6.9/X11R7.0 and according to http://wiki.x.org/wiki/X11R6970ReleasePlan it will be released sometime around October 2005. This leads me to beleive that it will be merged after OpenBSD 3.8 is released. If no developer is interested in debugging this I will get back to it when the next X.org release has been merged.
