Just to share; Damien Bergamini helped me with the 855wrap for the crappy DELL-BIOS (see other thread).
Now, this is phantastic: Installed 3.7 onto my DELL notebook Latitude D400. Just install, nothing configured, with USB-keyboard (sg), USB-mouse, Broadcom integrated NIC. Added some apps, and rebooted. (Plus added the 855wrap by Damien). startxfce and the screen comes up, 1024x768, without me doing anything; no X-config. Keyboard fully functional (alas, as 'us'), mouse fully functional. I repeat, *nothing* configured. Tried to trick it more: rebooted, but now with an IBM P260 attached. Also here: works out of the box and - still without *any* X-config ! - shows 1600x1200 pixels !! And - still without any config; not touching any mixer or else - plays Steve Ballmer monkeying around on mplayer; pictures and sound. I have - cough, cough - XP and Debian on the same box; and neither would do any of this without me clicking my way through. None would play a .mpeg on a secondary screen without *any* setting. (Sorry for my enthusiasm; but this is what I call 'Plug&Play' !! - No, Knoppix would *not* give the 1600x1200 display, btw.
