In my experience, every release version of OpenBSD has been"OK",
ready for production use the day it is officially released. This isn't like
some operating systems where you need to avoid any version ending in
an odd digit :)

I have sometimes run into trouble when upgrading a previous release
"in place". Upgrade pitfalls can be avoided by reading the guide:
     http://www.openbsd.org/faq/upgrade37.html

Sometimes it's easier just to do a fresh install, add the ports and
packages you need, then merge your home directory and /etc
configuration files from backup, particularly when the machine is more
than one version behind. For a production firewall, doing this on a
spare drive and holding the original boot drive in reserve allows for an
effective backout plan.
