i *think* when this has happened to me, it has been any combination of: $HOMEDIR on NFS mount not responding user authentiated via YP server who was unreachable other_error in my pf.conf. perhaps you will need physical/console access. i created a non-root local-password-file permitted-by-/etc/sudoers user on every NFS/YP host on my lan for this purpose. if you do get console or a login prompt, spend that quarter on logging in as such a user ( or root, if you don't have one ). i guess you could also try ssh as [EMAIL PROTECTED] it's enabled in the default sshd_config (last i knew) jared - [ openbsd 3.7 GENERIC ( jun 10 ) // i386 ]
