My /etc/hostname.pppoe0 doesn't want to start.
I have tried different myauthproto (pap, chap, none). With none, it goes
in fast circles:

May 28 18:11:36 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase establish
May 28 18:11:36 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase network
May 28 18:11:36 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase terminate
May 28 18:11:46 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase dead
May 28 18:11:46 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase establish
May 28 18:11:47 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase network
May 28 18:11:47 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase terminate
May 28 18:11:57 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase dead
May 28 18:11:57 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase establish
May 28 18:11:57 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase network
May 28 18:11:57 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase terminate
May 28 18:12:07 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase dead

With pap, chap it does around 30 seconds, with hefty and - compared to
'good' connections - very regular blinking of the modem LEDs:

May 28 17:37:30 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase establish
May 28 17:37:58 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase dead
May 28 17:39:14 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase establish
May 28 17:39:34 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase dead
May 28 17:40:48 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase establish
May 28 17:41:16 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase dead
May 28 17:46:50 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase establish
May 28 17:47:18 server /bsd: pppoe0: phase dead

There is no mygate

The hostname.pppoe0:
pppoedev ep1
!/sbin/ifconfig ep1 up
!/usr/sbin/spppcontrol \$if myauthproto=none [EMAIL PROTECTED]
myauthkey=mypass
!/sbin/ifconfig \$if inet 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.1 netmask 0xffffffff
!/sbin/route add default 0.0.0.1

And here the ifconfig -a:

I read all the threads in here; but don't find any with the identical
trouble.
I have tried for a few hours; to no avail. Do I make a mistake here ?
The same modem connects properly on 3.5 with userland pppoe.

Thanks for any hint,

Uwe
