Yeah I have had problems with this file also. If you search the archive you can find mails from 2001 and 2004 where some of the developers say they are working on it. I have a semi-working version I wrote myself but I wouldn't use it in production.
I need to rewrite it and make it clean and then maybe i'll commit it.
