Have a look at http://www.birrabrothers.com/tiger/data/samba/index.htm

It's what I used to get my network setup and there's no problems at all (of
course YMMV)

| I can't say *exactly* what you need to do since I haven't tried it, but
| the general idea is that you need to enable file sharing on the laptop.
| If the file/printer sharing module is missing, you may need to go through
| the usual crap about looking for modules to add. I'd suggest using
| "share" security initially because it's simpler. "User" security probably
| requires a "domain controller" for authentication.
|
| On the Amiga, for starters just see if you can get a list of shares from
| the PC with "smbclient -L your_PC_name". If you get that far, read the
| smbclient docs for all its different options.
|
| Beware that if you have file or printer sharing enabled, you may have
| additional security vulnerabilities if you ever connect your laptop
| directly to the net without a firewall. And if it's like most other
| things in Windoze, you'll lose all the settings related to sharing if you
| ever turn it off.

|
| Samba doesn't include this. There's an entirely separate package (IIRC
| it's called SMB-Connect) that claims to do it, but I don't believe it can
| use the Samba config files nor that it tracks updates to Samba.
|
| The generic Samba package includes a program called smbmount, but it's for
| Unix systems that already incorporate the smbfs file handler in the
| kernel. Since it's useless on the Amiga as is, it hasn't been ported or
| included in the Amiga Samba distribution.
