Once a decision is reached, we will gladly change our drivers to implement the correct behavior, and can make sure those changes hit stable driver releases quickly. As part of that, we investigated what other vendors do, and we seem to be alone in enforcing this. So I suspect that this will be relaxed in one way or another.
