It would be nice to clarify (a) what happens to <value> if <attribute> is unrecognized, and (b) that no error is generated if <attribute> is recognized. Here's a possibility that clarifies these things and I suspect matches your intent: "If <attribute> is not a recognized value, False is returned and no data is written to <value>. Otherwise, True is returned.
