This roughly shows how performance improved over time. Mesa git-0b626d7 is just before http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/9987 Mesa git-3c78d89 is after 9987 has been merged. The biggest performance change happened between 2016-07-07 and 2016-07-20, but I do not have enough data to tell exactly when. --- st_validate_state() is definitely affecting performance in games as measured by "perf stat", so I am looking forward to your rewrite.
