Maybe configure should be changed to indicate the new requirement.
If 2.6 is not needed then keeping requirements the same must be simpler
for users - I know I should really update this old LFS box anyway, but I
also have older now retired hardware with bugs still open that I
occasionally test. The occasionally is likely to become rarer if I have
to spend more and more time updating other things to build the latest mesa.
