Right on Kate. A quick scan of the kernel will show contributions from a lot of 
companies - even Microsoft has committed GPL code! And I'm certain whoever 
wrote that code got a paycheck! Free Software is not a hobby.

Well said. Closed source is just a vestige of an old industrial system that 
moved at a snail's pace. Nowadays, you get a patent and by the time the ink is 
dry on the contract, someone has invented something cooler.

Which they do anyway! And they do it badly! But its cheaper so they think that 
competing at a lower price point will bring them customers and they are 
disappointed when no one buys their crappy hardware.
