I have yet to see a real 2D barcode on any product in our pharmacy, and I've scanned thousands. Use of RSS is becoming more widespread, but RSS it not 2D, it is stacked 1D. Instead of arbitrarily buying "2D scanners", look for scanners that can decode RSS. Get one or two demo scanners and make sure they work before you invest in hundreds. This is what we're in the process of doing.
