Except for a demo long ago, I'm not too familiar with VFS. Here are a few
comments about our experience with the Status Board and the Process
Flowsheet -- which as I understand from this correspondence have similar
functionality to the VFS.

We use the Status Board and process flowsheet extensively and find them a
huge asset -- I can't imagine having taken documentation live without the SB
especially. Very easy to build -- and when users come up with a good idea
for something to be displayed and you can accommodate them right away, it's
a great party trick! One odd little thing though: PF default is assigned
at the Nurse level, while SB default is assigned by group in the Nurse
Access level.

SB is the home page of choice around here (it saves the unit secretaries a
TON of time and improves accuracy for everyone). The PF is used constantly
in PACU and for documenting labor, and in ICU; and the CNAs used PF
exclusively until we got Point of Care, and still some of them prefer the
PF. The biggest obstacle we had with the PF at go-live was that the users
would sometimes enter data and then go to check it, but it would be outside
the displayed time frame so they wouldnt see it -- and enter it again.
Tweaking of the defaults and user training overcame that.

A, We have it but are not using it. The compile times were too long when we
got it. We have since gone with a faster system but in the meantime nursing
flowsheet came out and we are looking at that as a spreadsheet. Like to hear
any pros and cons to the flowsheet vs VFS. m
