We just migrated. We are using PCI LINK which Meditech supplied. Although our service contract for most of Magic runs out after a period of time we intend to keep the servers running and purchasing maintenance on just PCI.

We are investigating a migration from MAGIC to C/S. I am concerned about historical clinical data. Meditech has told us there is no way to bring the data over to populate the EMR with historical data. We have been told that to access historical data, users would have to access the MAGIC PCI machine. However, we are only scheduled to keep the MAGIC machines for approx. 6 months. This poses two problems: (1) we don't want to keep MAGIC machines around just to access historical data and (2) we don't want users to have to use two different platforms. Furthermore, since PCI is simply a 'dumping ground' if you will for data, wouldn't we have to keep all MAGIC machines up and running in order for the data to populate PCI? How have you (other migrated sites) handled this situation? Did you figure out a way to get historical data into the EMR or is there truly no way to accomplish this? How did the users respond? Any input you can offer would be great. Thanks! Sincerely, Jennifer K.
