For a while now, patients that had a planned procedure that went through
the pre-surgical process have been on a "boiled down" version of the
in-patient admission form without the JCAHO Risk screens. We still were
using a paper process for the cath lab and ATU (chemos, blood admin, etc
as outpatients). However, recently they came to the Meditech team here
and asked to use our same form, as they want to tag on to our in-patient
med reconciliation process. Yahoo!

What type of assessments do your staff complete for outpatients coming
in for these treatments:

Outpatient Chemotherapy
Outpatient Blood Transfusions
Outpatient Injection administration i.e. Neulasta
Outpatient IV Antibiotic Administration

Our Nurse Managers are struggling with shortening the assessment while

Direction from those already in the real world. We have been asked to stop
the Lab Broadcast to various locations and broadcast only Critical Highs and
Lows. We have in MIS every location
to AUTO BROADCAST. Customer defined parameter in Lab Auto Priorities as
STAT. Lab TEST then defined on page 2 SOME HAVE BROADCAST print and
BROADCAST TRIGGER PALL. So for any that just broadcast STATS to ER and
Critical High/lows what do these dictionaries need to have. We are by the
way a Magic 5.4 release hospital.
Thanks so much in advance.

We use Formfast and we really like it. I think that they are my
favorite vendor because of their support. When I can on board Formfast
was already implemented and I was trying to do some new things with it -
but I didn't really know how it worked. They spent countless hours on
the phone helping me learn the system - always with great patience and
humor. Also - it is very versatile and can be used with any software.
I would be happy to answer any questions you have about the product.

Is there a way to put an electronic signature on the printed order out
of POM? We are struggling with this because initially we will probably
have two systems going -- manual paper and POM.

We are in the midst of implementing POM with a Pilot Group of four
physicians (our Hospitalists).
We use a Nurse Status Board with flags for entered orders to notify
nurses. Although we are currently printing the orders entered through
POM, we plan to stop this step when all (or, perhaps, nearly all)
physicians are up with POM. Nurses still write orders after hours. Lab
and radiology results/reports still print to Nursing.

,SUBSEQUENT PROFILED ORDERS , ON *magic* EMAR

Hi L'ers,
We are magic 5.5+ and are doing BMV/EMAR and Pyxis for a new client. As
'working as designed' by Meditech ,Override orders charge immediately on
vending, no matter if the pha tool box is set to charge on admin/docum
so all you can do is whether you want the nurse to see/process overrides
for documentation on emar. Meditech says these tool box settings only
apply to profiled orders.

But if the pharmacist puts in a follow-up supporting rx shortly
thereafter for the override the nurse has the potential to document on
that as well, leading to another charge, if billing on admin.

What have you doen to resolve this inconsistency by Meditech in handling
override or profile rx's , for billing by admin/docum?

Thanks, Mike
