I knew I had seen this, so did a search on Meditech, coming up with;

MG LAB 13094 - LIS: Add keyword to look for active medication orders when order
is placed
Available in Releases: 5.5 SR2, 5.6 SR0 Request Type: Enhancement
Associated Requests: MG PHA 6677, HCA LAB 7900
Features: PHA INTEGRATION
Search Flags: Canadian: N; Parameters: N; Conversions: N; Data Definitions: N

General Description

This change allows users to create a rule that displays a patient's active

medications with previous test results when ordering a new test in the Order

Entry (OE), Laboratory (LAB) or Imaging and Therapeutic Services (ITS) modules.

This makes the physician aware of any medications that could interfere with or

skew test results during order entry.

For this change, the following two new data fields (keywords) have been added

for ORD rules in the OE, LAB, and ITS. These data fields access information in

Pharmacy on a patient's active medications when users place an order:

   [f lord drug info]("drug.mnemonic")

   [f lord gen info]("generic.name")

The difference between the two data fields is what users include inside the

quotes within the parentheses. The first requires a drug mnemonic; the latter

requires a generic.
Testing Notes

In order for the new keywords to be accessable the Order Rule data fields need

to be reloaded in the LIS System Dictionaries. Please contact your MEDITECH

Application Specialist.

1. Once the key words are reloaded. Create a few LIS Order Rules using the new

keywords: [f lord drug info] and [f lord gen info].

2. Attach the order rules to tests.

3. In PHA, order a drug on a patient that can be evaluated by the order rule.

4. In LAB, order a test on the patient from step 5. Verify that the order rule

is evaluated correctly.

5. Enter a requisition on a differnet patient that does not have the drug

ordered on them. Verify that the order is evaluated correctly.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Defaulting medication when ordering lab test

We are wondering if anyone knows of a way ( either rule or attribute) when
placing an order for a lab test to default in a specific med based on the test
ordered.

Specifically, when entering an order for PT, PTT or INR, is there a way for the
system to automatically default an anticoagulant from pharmacy if it has been
given? And the same question for entering an order for a culture and the
system defaulting the antibiotic if the patient has received one.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this.
