On the subject of Live ttest patients, we use a last name which starts with a
double-Z, like ZZTEST,PATIENT. (We have two or three different ones). This
way the patient doesn't get 'stumbled' over, as we have patients who, on a name
search, may return said patient "Mouse,Mickey." ... and what about Veterinary
Lab tests? I've seen dogs and cats setup with the owner's last name... I have
a dog, named DOG. This search would return ANDERSON,DOG....... not a far
stretch to Mouse....

Whatever you test in LIVE should be the same as in TEST. If there are
differences, Meditech support should be informed. Having worked at Meditech in
support, we only tested in the TEST system. However, since I've worked in
hospitals, I noticed that everyone tests in the LIVE system (and it gives me a
heart attack!). All I can say is to not let your fake patient info get billed
and give them a name that everyone knows is fake like Mickey Mouse.

There was a lively discussion on this topic on the Meditech-L about a year ago.
The opinions were about evenly split between those who said “No, Never!” and
those who said, “Of course we use test patients in Live”. I am in the latter
category. No matter how much testing you do in Test, you cannot guarantee that
the setup is correct in Live until you test it. Better to test it on a dummy
patient than a real one….

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Dummy

Hello,

Does anyone have a "dummy" patient in LIVE.
We would like to use some for testing new procedures in LIVE
and also for Quality assurance specimens etc.

How would you register them?
What account type etc. etc. would you use so it would not affect statistics
that we need to submit to government (Canada)

Thanks
