We are Magic 5.5 SR1, and we went LIVE with EDM in February with the
tracker, nursing documentation, and physician order entry, and while I
can't say it's been fun, at least we are over the hump, and it's going
rather smoothly right at this minute.
I have a question that really has NOTHING to do with EDM as we've had
this problem for years, but since we've went LIVE with EDM, it has
really been noticed by administration. I have initiated a task with
Meditech, but so far have heard nothing.
How does your hospital handle the ED departure time and disposition of
those patients that go to another department (i.e., O.R. or the Birthing
Center) to have a procedure done, then are dismissed from that
department? Their status remains ER, but they "depart" the ED hours
before they "depart" the hospital. What does your hospital do in these
circumstances so the correct departure time is reflected in ABS (and the
ED daily logs and TAT reports are accurate)?
