Tammy I would be interested to see any responses you receive. We do have
mobile carts here. We use Infologix FLO cart ( flohealthcare.com) and we
have Artromicks INITI MedServer (artromick.com). Some issues with both: FLO
not enough drawers for med passes, manual up and down, INITI difficult to
maneuver/steer on carpet but great on drawer space. I would have liked to
purchase the RIOUX but it was not available to the public when we needed to
purchase and it appeared at HIMSS to be lightweight like the FLO but had the
storage space like the INITI. Something else that I have seen is the MOTION
C5 from Motion Computing that looks like a tablet and has the option of a
built in scanner with a nice handle. Other issues with the carts is having
to haul them to the room for PRNs otherwise great for large med passes. The
Motion C5 would be great for the PRNs but what about the large med passes
and they run about $2500 based on configuration. If you don't have carpet
on your nursing units you should be good either way. MAKE NURSING DEMO
THEM. Demand DEMO time (atleast a week) from the cart manufacturer. Even
if you are not live with BMV/eMAR make nursing use the demo cart for all
trips to the patient room (documentation, med passes, vitals etc) so they
get a true feel for the cart and going back and forth to patient rooms.

Good luck and please keep me posted!

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Mobile Carts and Hand helds

Good morning,

We are a Magic 5.5 facility who is looking to purchase some mobile carts and
hand helds. We are replacing our DG handhelds with wireless and are trying
to gather information on what units are the best. If you are currently
using Mobile carts and hand helds I would really appreciate your input on
various models.
