Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] Duplicate Veni charges per date

We had this issue as well. The only fix for us was to use page 3 on the
customer defined parameters screen and define the prefixes. We tried it
without prefixes and the charge was dropping for urines as well. I
understand what you mean about rebuilding, we had to leave off the send
out test prefix so as not to capture send out urines.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Duplicate Veni charges per date

We are C/S v5.5 sr 2 and are struggling with having 2 or more
venipuncture charges (CPT 30415) drop on the bill for the same DOS. We
have the VP set up as a charge type test and set duplicate hours to 24.
Not perfect but OK. Our Phlebos use the "receive by specimen" routine
and add the V charge globally thru the "Charge" field on the top of the
screen. Somehow/sometimes the charge gets added twice or more to the
patient account for the same DOS. Usually two different Phelbos (one
receives one of the specimens - then another Phlebo receives the other
specimen for lets say a recollection - both enter the charge V in the
"Charge" field.) I cannot reproduce this in test, of course. I only get
one charge - the Phlebos can get 2. The Lab feature for dup hours does
not appear to be consistently working. We have not used the option in
LIS Customer Def Params yet as that is driven by prefix and we will have
to do some rebuilding first. I have opened a MT task, but nothing yet.

We thought there may be a way on the back end to catch more than one CPT
per date before the bill was cut. Does anyone know how?

Thanks
