Hi All,
Just thought you should be aware of this issue:
In 5.6 Meditech introduced the ability to display the creatinine
clearance in the patient data screen in pharmacy and the header of the
nursing statusboard. There are two fields in the MIS clinical parameters
that are for the lab creatinine clearance and the creatinine. The idea
is that if you have both filled in, it will get the creatinine clearance
if that has been resulted in lab. If it has not, it will calculate the
creatinine clearance based off of the last serum creatinine result. We
had both filled in and here is what happened:
-We noticed a problem when a patient had a discrepancy in the creatinine
clearance we calculate in pharmacy vs the one displayed on the patient
data screen.
-The patient had a 24 hour urine creatinine and a crcl was calculated on
that result from 3 visits ago.
-On the patient's current visit, it displayed the old crcl and the
current date of the serum creatinine that was done as part of a BMP done
on this visit. So, it looked like the crcl was a current
result-dangerous
-I tested this and found the only way to use this enhancement is to have
the serum creatinine field filled out in the parameters and leave the
crcl blank. That way, the date of the crcl is always accurate.
