Janet, I know one unit that, in the Note Types dictionary, has not only
roles (CNA, RN, Social Worker, etc.) but also types such as Patient
Education, Team Meeting, etc. This is a behavioral health unit and they
also use canned text, but it's obvious that's what it is. Anybody
reading their admission note (canned) and comparing it to the notes that
are subsequent written (free text) would know that in an instant, as the
admission note is way too sophisticated.

I've seen places that use canned text notes for the purpose of the RN's
verification of the LPN's "assessment", and for an end-of-shift summary,
to try to capture progress. Sharon

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Nurse's Notes

We are big NUR users, but have never used the Notes section. I'd like
to start using this and wanted to know how people were using them. Do
you have a lot of templates, canned text, etc.? I'd really appreciate
any ideas or even examples. I'd like to set it up correctly and
efficiently right from the beginning. Thanks.
