We are working on BMV with a go Live date in September and I have a few
questions. We are using 5.5 sr4.

1) How are you handling the many different doses of bulk liquids that are unit
dosed? Are you using unique bar codes for each dose or not bar coding at all?
I have dictionary entries built for the 'normal' doses, should we create bar
codes for those and not the 'abnormal' ones?

2) How are you handling IVs, are you using different bar codes for the dilulent
and additives or have you created a unique bar code for each IV?
This is also a question for IVPs, do you have unique bar codes for all of the
different doses of pushes?

3) I haven't yet asked Meditech this question, is it possible to make the Rx
number a bar code on a label?

4) For inhalers, creams, and drops we enter them by puffs, drops, and zero
dose. Do you have the nurses scan the bar code for these items and say yes to
the pop-up that warns them that the scanned medication is larger than the
ordered dose? (I can see no other way of doing this.)

TIA, Valerie
