Be careful what NPI you/they are talking about. There is: National Provider Identifier - what we are noew dealing with. National Plan Identifier - Originally in the mix, but resisted by the plans so much that it is on a back burner. UB04, 837 and Meditech have a spot for this non-existant number. National Patient Identifier - Blown away years ago due to privacy concerns.
