We do not have separate organisms but have a canned text that is entered
on each report with one of those organisms notifying it is a MRSA or
VRE.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] MRSA and VRE

Hello,

I would like to know how sites are handling MRSA and VRE organisms. Do
you create separate organisms (Methicillin Resistant Staph aureus,
Enterococcus faecalis VRE, Enterocuccus faecium VRE) in addition to
normal organisms? Do use chartable procedure prompts for MRSA and VRE
which are attached to Staph aureus, E. faecalis, etc, that are only
resulted when MRSA or VRE is confirmed?

How do you handle these organisms on your microbiology analyzers (Vitek
or Microscan)?

Thanks in advance?
