We used to close the recurring accounts monthly in our outpatient
oncology clinic. This was a problem for pharmacy where we have a
dispensing machine for PRN orders. All Rx's were being discontinued
upon discharge. Physicians were rewriting orders, pharmacists
re-entering and still there would be unnecessary delays in getting PRNs
to start treatments. Prior to NUR coming up in this area, I/S and
finance worked out a process of interim billing. We no longer have
issues with orders being discontinued and NUR documentation is
uninterrupted. My understanding is that B/AR has not been negatively
impacted.

[MEDITECH-L] Recurring Accounts

How is everyone handling their recurring accounts? Do you discharge
monthly, quarterly, yearly? What kind of issues have you had with the
clinical departments? Thanks.
