Hi all,
I am looking for any ideas for downtime documentation of PCS assessments. We are a C/S site. When we have planned or unplanned downtime we need to have a form that resembles our assessments that can be used during the downtime. After the downtime is over our policy is that the information is entered into PCS from those hard copy forms. For extended downtimes the hardcopy forms are kept as a permanent part of the chart. Currently we use the forms that we had before the PCS implementation - but that is not working as the assessments do not resemble the old forms. We were looking at the "Print Assessment Screens", but those do not look at all "official" and could not be used as a permanent part of the record. We just had an unplanned 36 hour downtime for PCS/EMR (we had to recover from back up tapes) and re-entering all of that data from forms that do not resemble our current assessments was not acceptable. What does your hospital use to document on when the PCS system is not available? Have you recreated most of the assessments in Word documents - which sounds like a maintenance nightmare?
