Hi,

There is a product out there called Black Ice which can convert .pdfs to
.tiffs. I assume that once you scan the printed .pdf you are saving the
scanned image as a .tiff. If this is your process then Black Ice can do
away with the printing and scanning and waste.

Black Ice also sells API for developers to incorporate this
functionality into their software solutions.

Subject: [MEDITECH-L] Getting PDF Documents into PCI

Friends:

We have a foreign ER system that generates visit summary documents as
pdf files. We print those and manually scan them via Valco into
MEDITECH (Magic) PCI. We asked Valco to automate the process (i.e.,
eliminate manual intervention) and they quoted about $30K to do this.
It takes two people about 5 hours each for each day of ER activity.
That actually justifies the hefty Valco price tag but I was wondering if
anybody knows of other vendors we can talk to or if anyone created their
own solution for getting pdf files into PCI? Thanks!
